Sorry if this is a newbeeish kind of question right after subscribing,
but I'm stuck...
I'm running a Sun under SunOS 4.1.3. I also have NT machines, but decide
to use the Sun for this.
I install perl5.004_04 OK. Then majordomo 1.94.4. Only minor problems.
config-test says, its OK.
I create a list for test and it works fine - as long as everybody
subscribes with a valid email address.
I send messages to the list - works fine, everybody gets one.
Then I try to add snoopy@doghouse.usa (snoopy doesn't have email :-( ).
No problem still.
Then I send a normal message to the list; I get
> MAJORDOMO ABORT (mj_majordomo)!!
>
> majordomo: not replying to MAILER-DAEMON to avoid mail loop.
What is worse, the list-owner is not notified of this event, and nobody
else on the list gets the message.
I can't find anything about this in the README or FAQ.
How can I track down this problem ? I understand sendmail black magic
might be necessary, but all I really want is majordomo to tell me that
there was a problem with snoopy (and keep delivering messages to the
others) - that's why I got majordomo in the first place (instead of just
making an alias for the list).
My main concern is that
- messages are actually delivered
- errors are *only* reported to the owner
Any hints would be greatly appreciated. For now I'm back to my alias...
Thanks in advance,
Werner
