I can't speak for listserv, but this isn't going anywhere in Majordomo2
anytime soon.  It's not impossible to do, but like Chip said doing even a
reasonable approximation is really, really hard and full of pitfalls.  If
someone really wants it, they should start working on it.

Even when the list manager starts to look like an MTA (like Majordomo2) it
still isn't an MTA.  Majordomo2 doesn't accept mail, the MTA does that.
Thus it still gets fired up once for each list.  Sendmail has the advantage
that it _may_ be fired up once for several lists (though it may not, and
you can never depend on the duplicate-elimination).  If you think Sendmail
does what you want, you're only seeing a limited set of circumstances.
