I am graetful to those who provided instant help in configuring
majordomo. Let me introduce my self as I am new entrant to
majordomo-users and purpose for configuring majordomo.
I am a Senior Scientist in Animal Genetics and Breeding discipline
and belongs to Indian Council of Agricultural Resrach (ICAR). ICAR
controls 34 agriculture universities and more than 49 national institutes
besides hundreds of small research centers.
Recently ICAR decided to link all its centers (820) with internet
with the help of VSATs, Dialup lines or throgh other means to. The project
is about a year old. Since, we were facing few problems which were
location specific we decided to have a discussion group by creating a
listserver. I have two servers running and was known to 'Majordomo'
therefore, I volunterred to host a list server in my computer using
'majordomo'. I understand this is is the first use of majordomo in the
system.
Thus 'aris-net' with your help was created yesterday. ARIS stands
for Agriculture Research Information System and through this system all
centers are to be linked.
Most of the institutions would be running one or two listservers
on the topic of their speciality i.e I shall be creating another list
'goat-net' for discussion on goat research and development and Wheat
institute will be running 'wheat-net' for discusion on wheat research and
farming. Possibly within six months more than 100 centers will be using
'majordomo' for this purpose.
Long live 'majordomo'.
