Subject: Duplicate messages problem

Hi all,

I know this has been covered before...I've had 6 lists working fine up until
now. All of a sudden one of the smaller lists is getting 6 or 7 duplicated
messages. The messages are being sent back to the list rather than being
duplicated, though.

I've read the FAQ but am a bit nervous of messing with sendmail, however I'll
try:

"decrease the interval between queue checkpoints (OC flag in sendmail.cf)" as
suggested. I'm running MJ 1.94.4 on a Intel Linux box running RedHat 4.1,
could
this be the problem with flock() that's mentioned in the FAQ? If so, if I make
the changes suggested:

"There have been many reports from Linux users complaining about duplicate
mail. The problem seems to be that flock() under Linux is broken. This may be
fixed in a future release, but for now in sendmail's conf.h in the #ifdef
__linux__ section add a line #define HASFLOCK 0. There are also reports that
some versions of the libc have problems, and that linking with the libresolv.a
from a recent BIND version will work around the problem."

Will I need to recompile sendmail? Sorry for being stoopid, it's a long, long
time since I've messed with computers Unix-style.

Thanks in advance for your help.
