I still haven't solved the problem of duplicate messages sporadically
going out, so I have that on hold for awhile. Another problem related to
duplicates has come up. I sent a message to MJD to approve zubscriptions
for about 100 zubscribers. I got the usual message back saying that they
had been successfully zubscribed. Then I got another one back about 15
minutes later, saying that each one had already been subscribed. So,
duplicate messages were sent out from my end (the machine where MJD and
Sendmail lives is the machine I sent my messages from).
I am using version 8.4 of Sendmail and I don't know if that is a problem.
In the rc.local file, I have the line:
/usr/lib/sendmail -bd -q3h;
In the sendmail.cf file, I have the line:
#Checkpoint queue run after every N successful deliveries
OC5
I changed the rc.local entry from 1 hour to 3 hours when duplicate list
messages were going out on some lists. I also changed the OC entry from
the default 10 to 5.
I know this is not a Majordomo question, so only Sendmail groupies need
answer. I have also posted to other lists.
I believe that duplicates generated from approval commands started after
I made the above changes. I have fiddled around with these settings as
described in the FAQ and in the archives, but it just continues, and now
this. Any insight would be most welcome.
