Hi everyone,
I have a question about sendmail.cf (at least I think sendmail.cf
is at the heart of the problem). I have read through the majordomo
archives, checked out the MD FAQ and read the FAQ at www.sendmail.org
and haven't found a solution.
We have installed Majordomo 1.94.4, using sendmail v8.8 on a Solaris
machine called amber.online.uleth.ca, running SunOS 5.5.1.
Some sites will not accept mail from us - Lethbridge Community College,
for instance. If I telnet to their port 25, I get this:
# telnet lethbridgec.ab.ca 25
helo amber.online.uleth.ca
250 LethbridgeC.ab.ca Hello amber.online.uleth.ca
quit
#
Peachy!
But, if I type this:
# telnet lethbridgec.ab.ca 25
helo amber.online.uleth.ca.
501 Invalid helo parameter: "amber.online.uleth.ca."
quit
#
Why would I purposely put a period at the end of my helo command,
causing a 501 syntax error? Because
501 Invalid helo parameter: "amber.online.uleth.ca."
is the exact error message I get back when I send majordomo mail
to anyone subscribed from lethbridgec.ab.ca (and a few other sites).
I also get this message when I send mail from the command-line, so
it's not a majordomo problem - I'm sending to this group because
there is so much traffic and so many experienced postmasters. :-)
Does anyone know how/where this period is getting tacked on?
Thanks in advance!
