I suspect this is tounge in cheek. This will make it impossible
for people to subscribe directly to the list. At least not without the
owner's intervention. It can put a lot of work on an owner (I have done
it myself, so yes I know that it can), but it is great if for some reason
you wish to control your subscribership.
