Or he tells subscribers to get over their petty selves and deal with the
fact that they can't control the behavior of others, and they can just
shut up and delete the dupicates or go screw.

...but the problem that it becomes nigh-impossible to reply to an
individual replaces it. As most responsible lists attempt to steer all
but specifically-shared chat to private replies, this is boneheaded.
