[If I posted this more than once I apologize - I didn't see it come back
to me.]
I manage a few mailing lists in my company using majordomo. I'm having a
problem with domain names in the "from" field of messages distributed
through the lists. I'm not a sys admin - I've had a few lists set up for
me and I add/remove people and modify the configurations a little.
Here's the problem:
I use a Sun box on a UNIX network where the majordomo package also
resides. Let's say my domain is abc.analog.com, so the majordomo list is
list@abc.analog.com. Most of the people on the list are also on the
'abc' domain. But some are on another domain, let's call it 'xyz'. When
Bill Smith sends a message to the list from the xyz domain the from
should read bill.smith@xyz.analog.com, but instead reads
bill.smith@abc.analog.com. In fact, I sent a message to the list from an
external mail account (dcarr@rocketmail.com) and the from came out
dcarr@abc.analog.com!
Obviously this causes problems when someone wants to reply to a message
sent by a person outside of the abc domain.
I've been over the configuration and can't see where I might be screwing
up. My sys admin doesn't know what the problem is either.
Here are the system details:
Majordomo: version 1.94
Perl : version 5.003
OS: Solaris version ?? (prob 5.6)
mailer: sendmail version ??
Thanks for any help!
