Thanks to everyone who wrote to give me advice about setting up an
automated daily-quotation mailing list.  In the end, I ended up writing my
own application to handle it and got cron to do the rest.

Since 'fortune' simply chooses a quote at random, it could in theory send
the same quote twice and we want to exhaust our text database completely
before resending any quotes. Also, fortune required a special database
format that could not be modified.

But it's working great now, thanks again for the help.
