I've submitted a message two weeks ago concerning the <listname.new>
file that gets created when someone tries to unsubscribe from a mailing
list. A few people did respond and I tried their suggestions, but I'm
still having the same problem. Majordomo creates the <listname>.new file
with the ownership of 8:12 (mail:mail) and I get the following error
message when I try to unsubscribe from a list:
MAJORDOMO ABORT (mj_majordomo)!!
chown(806, 900, "/home/students/majordom/mail/lists/cs170.new"):
Operation not permitted
Now if I change the ownership to 806:900 (majordom:major) like it is
trying to do I get the following error message:
MAJORDOMO ABORT (mj_majordomo)!!
chmod(33204, "/home/students/majordom/mail/lists/cs170.new"): Operation
not permitted
Permission 33204 is not valid -- why would majordomo try to set that as
a permission? Where did I go wrong? If anyone has any other
suggestions/solutions I would greatly appreciate you sharing them with
me. Thanks!!!!
P.S. I read the FAQ, checked out my Makefile, reinstalled majordomo as
'majordom' and the wrapper as 'root', but still get the problems.
