it's a little like what the bulk mail thing does.

i used it with sendmail for a long time. i find that the exim delivery
approach is quite satisfactory, more robust (bulk mailer has no disaster
recovery), and required relatively little implementation effort once i
understood the relevant parameters.

i'll never go back to sendmail.
