I recently installed majordomo 1.94.4 on
a sparcstation ipc running redhat 5.2.
I am getting the chown: operation not permitted error
and i saw the section in the official faq about
recompiling the wrapper so I did that and made sure
that W_USER and W_GROUP were those of the majordomo
user and group and followed the rest of the directions.
But still I keep getting the error and notice that when wrapper
gets run and then executes majordomo all the lock files and .new
files it creates are marked as user: mail and group: mail. Thus
it can't chown to majordomo user and group.
In the FAQ when it says recompile and install, does installing
entail anything else other than copying it over or rewriting the old
wrapper if you compiled it in another directory? It seems as though
user mail is what wrapper is being run as. Any replies are greatly
appreciated. I also apologize if this has been discussed before,
but the archives aren't searchable.

p.s. my errors occur when i attempt to unsubscribe a list member.
