Subject: Archiving and indexing majordomo mailing lists with mhonarc and htdig

There is a searchable and browseable archive of the majordomo-users mailing
list (only up until November 1998), which I suspect uses mhonarc and htdig.
(at http://www.hpc.uh.edu/majordomo-users/)

Such archives seem fairly common, and I can see from the mhonarc documentation
several possible ways of doing this, but I would be interested in some real
life experiences. None of the archive pages, that I have come across, have a
link which says 'This is how it was done'

Is it better to add each message to mhonarc as it is sent out from the system
(like adding to the majordomo archive) or is it better to have a cron job
which rebuilds the mhonarc pages on a regular basis ?

Are people generally keeping a majordomo style archive, or saving a bit of
disk space and keeping everything in mhonarc format ?

Any hints from someone who has actually done this would be appreciated.
