(sigh) So I thought I had majordomo all working... the subscribes and
unsubscribes worked and everything. Now I have this odd problem that I
can't quite figure out. I send a message to the list "ratsnest" that
I've created, and MAILER-DAEMON@bork.hampshire.edu sends me back this
message (my server is called bork.hampshire.edu):
Subject: Returned mail:ratsnest-list... aliasing/forwarding loop broken
From: Mail Delivery Subsystem <MAILER-DAEMON@bork.hampshire.edu>
To: owner-ratsnest@bork.hampshire.edu
The original message was received at Wed, 1 Sep 1999 02:05:31 -0400
from majordom@localhost
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
ratsnest-list
:include:/usr/majordomo/lists/ratsnest
(expanded from: ratsnest-list)
----- Transcript of session follows -----
550 :include:/usr/majordomo/lists/ratsnest... Cannot open
/usr/majordomo/lists/ratsnest: Group writable directory
554 ratsnest-list... aliasing/forwarding loop broken
I don't get it... /usr/majordomo/lists/ratsnest is a file, permissions
set 664, chowned to majordom/daemon, that correctly contains the email
addresses for the list. Majordomo put the addresses there when people
subscribed to the list, so why can't it open the file now?? I don't get
it..
I tried changing the folder and file permissions both to 777 and it
still didn't work (I was doing it just for kicks). I got the SAME error
message.
Any ideas?
Thanks much,
Josiah
