If you want to "suspend" a list, instead of
kill a list, it would be more polite to send
a note, rather than causing a bounce.
There is a script with the package that you
use on the list before it is open.
I think it is called newlist.
You could modify this to be "closedlist" and
have it report a message back saying the
list is temporarily closed.
