Well, I downloaded the 1.9.4 source, read INSTALL, compiled the wrapper,
installed everything, did the test, read the docs, and had a mailing
list working within 7 working hours. It replaced mail merges in Word 97
and Maximizer flooding up to 250 MB of shit at a time from our sales
department over our internal network and then the Internet, and costing
goodness knows how much processor and disk capacity on two SCO Unix
servers and one NT server. At the same time it opens new opportunities
for our sales department, who can now manage their own mailing lists
themselves, thank God.
I couldn't have done it without the fanatastic Exim as MTA (Sendmail I
will never understand, and never try to), nor without the equally
fantastic Majordomo documentation.
I didn't have any of the difficulties recounted in the majordomo-users
archive, mainly because I'm an RTFM man, so I think I'll unsubscribe
from this list. I can't help anyone else here, since no-one seems to use
Exim and the non-Sendmail difficulties almost all seem to stem from lack
of RTFM.
Thanks for marvellous software and an intellectually brilliant approach
to a much needed service!
Tony
