This is probably a simple question, but I've been re-reading the docs to
the extent that I can't see the wood for the trees:
I have a host, canonical name abelard.lesbell.com.au, on which I have set
up a list. It's running majordomo 1.94.3 and sendmail 8.9.1. Because I
might well move the list to a different host later, I set up a CNAME record
for this purpose in the DNS, giving it the CNAME lists.lesbell.com.au.
sendmail.cw has an entry for the lists CNAME, and majordomo.cf has
$whereami = "lists.lesbell.com.au";. The list.config file has reply_to =
"nc-instructors@lists.lesbell.com.au";.
Yet, sendmail is mangling the hostname as it sends messages, so that the
hostname in all the header fields is "abelard" rather than "lists"
(irrelevant lines excised):

I know I've overlooked something obvious, somewhere, but I can't, for the
life of me, see what it is. Anybody?
Best,
