First I want to make sure we are on the same sheet of music here.

What user and group is majordomo installed as?
majordom:majord?

Is your majordomo.cf in the /etc directory? Or is it in the
/object_research/system/majordomo-1.94.5 directory?

Is /object_research group or world writable?
Is /object_research/system group or world writable?
Is /object_research/system/majordomo-1.94.5 group or world writable?
Is /object_research/system/majordomo-1.94.5/lists group or world writable?
None of them should be. If they are, chmod them to 755 or 751.

>From your majordomo.cf file,
Does $whereami = "cis.gsu.edu";
Does $homedir = "/object_research/system/majordomo-1.94.5";
Does $listdir = "/object_research/system/majordomo-1.94.5/lists";
The next questions are not as important right now but,
Does $filedir = "$listdir";
Does $filedir_suffix = ".archive";
Does $digest_work_dir = "$homedir/digests";
