It will require some tweeking, but the "new-list" program in
the Tools directory is probably what you are looking for.
Unmodified, and using this in the aliases file;
unix-test: "|/majordomo/wrapper new-list unix-test"
owner-unix-test: dan,
unix-test-approval: owner-unix-test
The following is the auto-response I received;
Subject: Your mail to unix-test@sonny.org
Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2000 21:32:19 -0500 (CDT)
From: unix-test-approval@sonny.org
To: dliston@netscape.com
CC: unix-test-approval@sonny.org
This pre-recorded message is being sent in response to your recent
email to unix-test@sonny.org.
If you were trying to subscribe to the list, please send your request
to Majordomo@sonny.org, not to unix-test@sonny.org.
This is a new list. Your message is being returned unsent, but please
hold on to it. After a few days, when the flood of subscription
requests has died down somewhat, the owner of the list will announce
that the list is "open for business"; you should resubmit your posting
then. This way, everybody who joins the list within the first few days
of its existence starts out on an even footing, and we don't end up
with every other message asking "what did I miss?".
Here's your original, unsent message:
From: Dan Liston <dliston@netscape.com>
To: unix-test@sonny.org
Subject: looking for a response
Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2000 21:31:37 -0500
Message-ID: <3908F809.C1C8A95@netscape.com>
This is just a test message to see what I get back.
