I see what you mean. I just tried sending lists and help commands
to your majordomo and did get the error you quoted, followed by
the help information.
What do the key variables in majordomo.cf look like?
The $whereami variable should have a static hostname not some
backquoted command that retrieves the hostname for you.
What do your majordomo aliases look like?
If you are using a separate aliases file for majordomo lists,
did you add the filename to sendmail.cf? Rerun newaliases?
I would venture to guess that this is a majordomo.cf or sendmail.cf
problem. Just can't tell where for sure. Did you examine your
sendmail log and your majordomo log files? Do they offer any clues?
