I am of the opinion that if you have correctly configured majordomo and
sendmail, for protected lists anyway, spam usually isn't a problem. The
situation that I see this capacity being beneficial is the one I am in
currently.

We are in he process of moving all of our lists from Mercury on Novell to
Majordomo on Linux. I have modded sendmail to do novrfy and noexpn and
also hidden all of the lists with noadvertise and enable resrict_post so
it should be impossible to get the listname or mail to it unless you are
subscribed/told to subscribe by an owner.

The problem we are having is most one of training because we have people
who are used to lists which are wide open for posting so they were posting
from multiple accounts on a regular basis. Suddenly this does not work
and they cannot seem to grasp the concept of why. Likewise the listowners
ae still a lile green on the command syntax and what to do with the
bounces...I just think it would be nice to have feature that could be
enabled or disabled which would inform a list member of problems with
their posts (perhaps something which only informed the user if
restrict_post were set or if subscribtion to the list were closed...I
dunno...
