And on the other hand, using* the ftp://... URL gave me a good download
using the ftp command on a BSDi machine (* that is, opening the host, and
hand changing directories to get the the right directory) worked fine for
me, as did starting a download by pasting the URL as-is into (Macintosh)
Anarchie.

It's probably more accurate to say there are problems between the server
and some (common) clients.
