This is true, but I don't think it's what he's looking for:

He (and I!) would like the poster to be notified that the address
posted from isn't valid.  The poster can then ask for an address to
be put in a separate posters file, or can sub to the list from the
address they posted from, or can pound sand.

I think it's important that the poster know the address used isn't valid
for posting - otherwise they'll blithely continue until the admin manually
steps in.
