Finally got Majordomo working !!!!! Many thanks to all those on the
list who helped .....
Interestingly the final problem was a misconfigured .fetchmailrc file
! I had spent all my time looking at file/dir permissions etc....
The .fetchmailrc that works is
set postmaster "geoff"
set no bouncemail
poll pop.freeserve.net with proto POP3
localdomains "mozart.freeserve.co.uk"
username "mozart.freeserve.co.uk" password "mypassword" to *
here
My machine is maquerading as mozart.freeserve.co.uk as my ISP
gives me an email address of geoff@mozart.freeserve.co.uk with a
dynamic IP allocation ...
The important bit that meant that I could received email for
mailinglistname aswell as for majordomo was the "*" rather than
"majordomo" ...
I guess also important to have 775 for the directories and 644 for
the files in the lists dir....
and a majordomo.aliases file in /etc and the following 3 lines to
sendmail.cf
OA/etc/majordomo.aliases
O DontBlameSendmail=GroupWritableAliasFile
O DontBlameSendmail=IncludeFileInGroupWritableDirPath
Possibly the 1st of the above 3 lines not required as I placed the
majordomo.aliases file in /etc rather than in /home/majordomo ?
Also have the symlink for wrapper in /etc/smrsh
Any comments ?
