Thanks for the info. I tried your solution, but to no avail. I didn't find
the file you described although it would make sense. I changed all the perms
too and the same happened dissapearing mail.

I just had a similar problem - posts to my list I found went to a file that
was called "wrapper resend -l jokes joke-list" - the exact string that was
supposed to get passed to wrapper. I'm not sure HOW it happened, but I
ended up reinstalling, and changing permissions on wrapper per a message I
just saw on the list here.
I noticed in the error messages that my wrapper was set to user id 99, group
99, which is NOT what I set it to. So, I chowned all the files (except
wrapper) to user 99 and group 99 (which happens to be "nobody", and it seems
to work ok now. Here's a copy of my majordomo directory:
