I think you need to just ask the questions. The reason the list exists is
to help people. Obviously, you have to do everything within your power to
help yourself (rtfm, docs, faq's etc.)
One resource I found very valuable was the Nutshell book on mailling lists.
You can get it from Oreilly direct, or amazon, barnes & noble etc.
