There are a couple of things I would like to do to change the way majordomo
works with my lsit but I'm not sure if it's possible or if there's any easy
way to do it. If you know how to do one or more of the following any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have root access on the system
in question and it is using the latest version of qmail as an mta. I'm using
redhat linux 6.0 and perl version 5.005_03. Majordomo is version 1.94.5.
Now on to what I would like to do...
My list is an annoucnement type list where only a couple of people post,
there is no discussion, the subscribers just listen. the first hting I
would like to do is change it so that posts to the list com from
mylist@mydomain.com instead of the poster.
Secondly I would like to allow people to subscribe to the list by sending a
blank message to mylist-subscribe@mydomain.com or some other arbitrary
address (the address doesn't really matter as long as you can send a blank
message to some address and get subscribed). I would also like the users to
be able to confirm simply by hitting reply and send (and nothign else)
instead of having to copy and paste a key or send some command, etc.
I would like unsubscribe to function in the same way as subscribe (not quite
as important).
I think that the subscribe unsubscribe thing could be at least partially
accomplished with .qmail alias files. For example if I created one
/var/qmail/alias/.qmail-mylist-subscribe and instructed it to append
subscribe mylist and then on another line end and then to sned it on to
majordomo that would atleast accomplish teh first part but not get rid of
the confirmation key. I'm farely sure that can be done becuase I know you
can use a .qmail file to direct mail to an address to be piped into some
program I'm just no sure exactly how to accomplish appending those commands
and making sure they go at the top of the message as oposed to underneith
someones signature if they have one.
That's about it, if anyone has any suggestions for making these changes they
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
