Is the footer currently getting added to your messages by using a
listname.footer file?  I would imagine something could be hacked to do 
this, and as such, most of the same code could be used as part of the
digest_rm_footer setting.  Since that would be more of a feature addition
than a bug or security fix, I am not sure how long it would take the hard
working volunteers to put something like this together.  If they did take
the challenge, I think it would qualify a 1.96 release of the program.
