Hi everyone,
I compose this message with a degree of trepidation which may become
apparent...
I've just started a new job and because I once installed, administered and
used majordomo I've been given the task of re-designing the organisation's
mail-list interface etc...
currently a custom-built set of pascal code which does all sorts of things
before passing the info to majord...which runs on an old unix box which then
forwards traffic to the central Exchange server...
Of course, we are going for a perl-based solution for the customized stuff,
whilst having a look at interfaces like majorcool to see if our particular
type of wheel already exisits...
Today I get a curve-ball - a colleague was at an MS conference in Nice last
week (nice work etc...) and reports that MS Exchange 2000 may include some,
or all, of the functionality we need - ie a replacement for majord...with a
good interface?
Now the central organisational email system is Exchange so you can see why
people would be interested in having one 'bit' of software take care of all
of the email business .
Leaving aside our proper love for majord etc does anyone know if
Exchange2000 has any/all/none of the functionality of majordomo with or
without a majorcool-type interface?
Apologies to all who think this is not a relevant question for this
list...but I'd like to have some info to argue in favour of majord
if it is possible...eg any glaring omissions in Exchange2000 (not earlier
versions as we know they weren't up to it!)
best wishes,
Ray Brown, cowering in anticipation...;)
