Dan,
It's been a while since I studied Majordomo code, so some of the details
may be a bit hazy, but what's happening is that when Majordomo creates a
digest it updates the digest number, which is stored in the
filename.config file. To do this, Majordomo writes the file, one line
at a time, from filename.config to filename.config.out, making the one
change to the digest number. When it's done it does (as I recall) a "mv
filename.config.out filename.config".
As to why filename.config.out exists when it begins this process, that I
have no idea <frown>.
