If by "virtually hosted", you mean it's on the same system as
family-connection.net, then perhaps you should start thinking a bit
differently...

There's no such thing as a virtual site to sendmail or to majordomo.
Think of virtual sites only in the context of apache and you're a long
way towards understanding your problem.

Anything on the same computer is local.

Again, "altered" is probably not a good term. "MX" means
mail-exchanger, and the purpose of an MX record is to let the rest of
the world know where to send email. For example:

tfcemail.net.	IN	MX	10	everyone.net.

isn't "altered" in any way, it's just a normal MX record so the world
will know that to send mail to (for example) cf@tfcemail.net, it must
first connect to the server named "everyone.net" (and I suppose it isn't
too much of a digression to point out that while everyone.net will work
as a target for an MX record, it really isn't a reasonable MX record
target, since it doesn't contain a server name; only a domain name).

Are you saying that everyone.net is on a different machine? If so, then
it's NOT local.

Let's look at a small portion of my /etc/sendmail.cw file for a moment:

> Cwlocalhost
> # file containing names of hosts for which we receive email
> Fw/etc/sendmail.cw

This tells us that /etc/sendmail.cw is a list of hostnames for which the
local machine receives email. If everyone.net is on a different
machine, then tfcemail.net should NOT be in /etc/sendmail.cw.

So what's happening is:

Sendmail knows the contents of /etc/sendmail.cw, and "thinks" it should
keep mail for tfcemail.net on the local machine. It never does an MX
record, so it never knows to send the mail on to everyone.net. It just
tries local delivery.

And since the local system has neither a mailbox for, nor an alias for,
cf@tcemail.net, it sends back an error message.

Yes, and I hope I've given you an understandable answer <smile>.
