I would diff the /tmp/listname.config.out against ~majordomo/lists/listname.config before deleting, unless you do not mind possibly getting duplicate digest numbers, and a new problem with overwriting the old digest in ~majordomo/digests/listname-digest. You may have to change the digest version number in the "real" .config file before running your next digest.
