Can you telnet into the mail server from home???
IE:
telnet open domain.com 110
If the answer is no then your pop server is not answering request on port
110 which means it's probably not on. Generally the pop2/pop3 protocols
or services in /etc are commented out.. Uncomment them and restart inetd
(if your running inetd) and it should work. You can test it after the
changes by telneting as directed above.
