Bulk_mailer is really good, but how fast is your connection
to the internet? Is your list clean with addresses that are
all deliverable? Is your domain free of listings in the RBL
or ORBS databases? Do the domains you are delivering to set
restrictions on the number of recipients per message? Do the
domains you are delivering to have high horsepower machines
and wide bandwidth?

Bulk_mailer can break your delivery envelope into smaller
chunks that not only allows you to process delivery in
parallel, but can get mail delivered to domains that restrict
the number of recipients which would be otherwise undeliverable.

One of my domains is on a 57.6k dialup which has spam filtering
enabled up the ying yang. It may take up to 90 seconds at times
just to get a connection to my mail server. I am sure I am not
the only domain on the internet like this either. Something to
keep in mind when you wonder why it takes so long to deliver to
a large list.
