No, you just need to take steps to prevent it. As I recall from Dan, SOP
is:
1) change the name from mars-ptrade-usa-list to something odd, such as
mars-ptrade-usa-45hger22087.
2) everywhere in your /etc/aliases or /etc/majordomo.aliases (whichever you
use), change mars-ptrade-usa-list to mars-ptrade-usa-45hger22087, or
whatever you set it to.
3) change the mars-ptrade-usa alias to include ,nobody at the end.
Step 3 hides the internal distribution name. Apparently it's some feature
of sendmail that when more than one destination exists for an alias, it
doesn't spell them out.
Here's what the header looked like before I added the ,nobody to our
incoming list name:
Received: (from majordomo@localhost)
by lug.linxsys.com (8.9.3/8.8.7) id DAA24928
for cerritoslug-list; Sun, 27 Aug 2000 03:38:33 -0700
And here's what it looked like after adding ,nobody to the incoming list
name:
Received: (from majordomo@localhost)
by lug.linxsys.com (8.9.3/8.8.7) id XAA02459;
Tue, 12 Dec 2000 23:55:24 -0800
Myself, I'm not concerned if somebody knows that our internal list name is
cerritoslug-list. It's not accessible from the outside world. Period. If
you're interested how we did this, I can post a quick little summary of how
we did it, but it requires a couple of machines, one being behind a
masquerading firewall (which is why it's not directly accessible to the
outside world). If you've got the machinery to do this, it's worth the
setup. Our list machine is a little Pentium 60 or something like that. You
don't need much horsepower to do it if it's setup decent and has a decent
connection such as SDSL.
Blue skies... Todd
