When this happened to me, it turned out that I was using the wrong
password, and I was sending from an address that would be accepted by
the list for ANY post. 

The problem was that the password was not being accepted as a password,
but the post WAS accepted from a valid sender.

If your list is a closed list, try the same thing but send from an
address that would otherwise not be able to post to the list. If the
password is wrong, it will bounce. If the password is right, it will be
accepted and the post will look like it came from the original sender,
not from you. Don't forget to insure the blank line between the resent
header and the text of the message.
