You have not really provided enough information to diagnose your problem.
Information like file ownerships and permissions, directory locations,
version of sendmail, and whether or not smrsh is configured into the MTA
would be helpful.
The fact that you get an error regarding the extra aliases file says
that you have sendmail.cf configured to use that aliases file correctly.
In order for sendmail to use the majordomo.aliases file correctly, it
should be owned by root and live (or have a link) in /etc. Your
question looks like you already have the ownership and permission
correct, but where is the file (or link) located?
Another piece of helpful information would be the log file that states
the "exact" error message.
If your majordomo.aliases file contains your lists, some sample contents
from that file would be helpful too.
