I suspect the same problem would happen if you sent regular mail out from
that machine?

If so then it's a sendmail problem, well, not a problem as such, as a
configuration issue I think.

If I send to you at dec2.lns.foorbar.com (hypothetically) would it get
there?  If so then the problem is at the receiving end I think.  If not,
then why not?
