I try to be helpful on the majordomo-users mailing list
when ever I can, but I do not do private consulting via
my email address unless I am being well paid.
If you dig through the archives of the majordomo-users
list a little further, you will find this topic has been
discussed a few times already. As long as you are not
using fronter or footer messages in your listname.config
file, most mime and html will be distributed properly.
You can NOT use mime encoded email to send commands to
majordomo though. Commands to (un)subscribe are expected
to be in plain/text only, and in the first 10 lines of
message body after the first blank line which separates
the header from the body. Mime encapsulation will
corrupt this expectation.
If you need a solution for preventing HTML messages or
converting them into plain text, search the archives for
the word "demime".
To answer your question more specifically, an "out of the
box" install of majordomo and creation of new lists will
allow attachements (smaller than 40K) and HTML content
to be distributed through your list. Just make sure to
demime any/all mail that is addressed to the majordomo
(or any alias that makes a call to majordomo on the RHS)
address before majordomo sees it. The majordomo perl
script does not understand anything but plain vanilla
text.
