I'm using Majordomo 1.94.5, Perl 5.005_03 on an Apache Web Server 1.3.14, Linux with kernel 2.2.12-28 and using Sendmail 8.11.1.
I recently switched hosts to a private server and had no problem using MD before. I'm using my same configurations and this new list
is set up the same exact way. I have no problems with any of the administrative functions and it allowed me to set the new config
file and overall the program is functioning fine. However, the problem that I'm having is that the list is set to moderated. This is
what's not working - it's acting as if this is a completely open list. It doesn't matter if it's a subscribed address or not I'm
able to send a posts without password approval and it goes to the whole list. Also, when I sent out an approved post to the list, it
didn't strip the admin header and sent it through intact with password and everything. I know I can add the password to the taboo
file but this is a test list for now.
When I go into the directory and look at the config file, it is set correctly to moderated. My tech support tried to tell me that it
was because I didn't have the moderator address set but I pointed out that it states: If the moderator address is not set, it will
default to the list-approval address. Which is how my old config file read. Just to prove my point, I set an address and it made no
difference. While I did not install MD on the server, I do have complete access to all of the files.
I did come across the following response to a similar problem and it may be the solution I'm looking for but don't understand how to
go about following it:
>Are your aliases set up properly -- that is, are you using resend?
>Do your aliases look like:
>mylist: :include:/path/to/mylist
>or
> mylist: "|/path/to/majordomo/wrapper resend -l mylist -h foo.com
mylist-XYXYXY"
> mylist-XYXYXY: :include:/path/to/mylist
>If you don't invoke resend, you don't get any of its functions, including
>moderation.
Where exactly would I find this and what file(s) have to be changed ... in newbie terms please:-)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Susan
