Salaam!
I'm remotely administering a list on a virtually hosted server
running v1.94.4, sending emails to majordomo@myhost.tld, and spent today
looking for a commented set of marjodomo commands showing their syntax.
I read the FAQ and the README file and was able to deduce the syntax
of some commands, and a comment about sending the config file "back" led
me to alter seven lines in the config file -- that I received in
response to the command "config listname password" -- and send it back
in its entirety under the line "writeconfig listname password." I
received a "wrote new config for list listname" message from the Major
with the first ten or so lines of comments at the head of the file. So
I sent "config listname password" again and received the config file
(with a new "written" time shown) and none of my changes had been made.
I did not compress the lines that I changed so that they read like
"maxlength=20480" without any spaces. I included the whole file, not
merely the lines I wished to change. Were these syntactical errors?
Does the Major report syntactical errors?
But the command "config" was not illuminated in any help file I
received from the Major or saw anywhere, it was merely a word in the FAQ
that looked like it was a command, along with another word "writeconfig"
in some other context, but nowhere shown with any syntax understood by
the Major. I had to guess at it.
So ...
Where is there a list of commands understood by Majordomo v1.94.4
showing the command syntax?
What command causes Majordomo to make changes in the config file and
what is the command syntax?
I did look in the list archives back a month or three and saw no
Subject line that suggested these questions.
was-salaam,
abujamal
