Problem with subscriber addresses that have middle initials

["Litiatco, Rick" <Rick . Litiatco @ disney . com>]

I have a list with users that have email address like this:

John.I.Doe@aaa.company.com

and these people aren't getting postings to the list.

Too many periods, perhaps?

Has anyone seen this one before?
