You could try demime http://scifi.squawk.com/demime.html if you want to get
rid of attachments all together.
It is possible to be more selective in allowing attachments through
Majordomo. I've hacked the resend script in my Majordomo 1.94.5 setup to
strip out binary attachments and replace them with pointers to where the now
detached files can be found. I use the Content-Type MIME header to
determine whether to detach the attachment or allow it to pass through. I
can't think of any reason right off hand why a similar technique based on
the filename extension of the attached file wouldn't also work except that
the filename is under the control of the virus sender whereas the MIME type
has to be a standardized value.
If you don't mind hacking on Majordomo a bit you can do what you intend
without add-on products.
