Hello,
I am a newbie to majordomo and would appreciate everyone taking that into
consideration when and if they reply... I don't mean to offend with the
comment above, however, I've seen some of the replies given by some people
and hope to not become their target with this email...
My website host has installed majordomo for me and I am unable to get to any
files pertaining to it - they are hidden from me...
I see (after reading the readme and the FAQ on this page:
http://www.greatcircle.com/majordomo/ that I am able to try to configure
majordomo via email interface... However, I understand I must have a
password in order to obtain a config file... I have emailed my webhost
asking what the password should be...
I have tried many commands from subscribe to who to help (in the email body)
without any results other than the emails go through the list as if there
were no commands in them...
I am not sure where to go from here... (As I said earlier) I've already
emailed my host to ask if there is a password I am supposed to use... If
they are unable to give me one, what do I do then? They'll already told me
it will have to wait until Monday...
I am able to put people into the mailing list manually by going to my
siteadmin but I'd prefer it if I could have it so people could subscribe and
unsubscribe without intervention... The way the webhost provider has it
set up, I can make or delete a mailing list via a webpage interface without
using a password... I guess I need to ask if this interface is a program
called majorcool... My host is on a cobolt server if that helps...
I'd also like to have it so that specific words are in the subject line (for
instance, for this list I'd have [majordomo] )... Is that possible? I
don't see a reference to doing that (though, there's so much to read that I
may have missed that piece of information...
Also, how do I make it so that bounced emails don't just disappear? I made
a test email account and sent it a ton of emails with attachments so that I
knew it would bounce and then added it to the mailing list... No bounced
messages come through the mailing list (yeah!) but they just seem to
disappear... I'll never know if someone is bouncing and needs to be removed
from the list...
So, I guess I'm basically asking if all of what I want to do above hedge on
my being able to get a password for each mailing list I can make or do I
need to email the mailing list telling it I'm the owner and that it now has
a password as well as telling it the other commands I've mentioned above?
Or, do I need to tell the mailing list I am the owner?
Thank-you very much for reading this post... I hope I was not too
confusing in regards to the information I presented...
Babs
