Hello All,
Brand new to this list. Please forgive if I commit a faux paux.
I've been subscribed to a private list for some time now. Up till now it's
been free.
Now the owner is instituting a yearly charge. A bit steep I'm thinking but
maybe not. It occurred to me that I might be able to offer the service for
much less than they are planning to charge. Anybody got any feedback on
costs involved in running a moderated private list? I do web hosting and my
provider has Majordomo available although "unsupported". I also know that
I can get the service provided that would suit my needs for about $30 per
month elsewhere. The main "bug" seems to be administration cost/time. What
kind of time is involved moderating a private list of say 1000 users with
typical traffic of 40-50 messages per day?
  Any comments welcome.

Sincerely,
Dana G. Bostick
