I've never heard of a "master" password, although I suppose it's
possible that it does exist. But I did run across something that was
pretty confusing a while back, which might be relevant at some point:
The list config itself supports two passwords. One is the
"admin_passwd" field in <listname>.config, the other is just put in
the file <listname>.passwd. Both of these passwords will
subsequently work for modifying the list.

As for creating lists, I use majorcool and a custom script that
creates the appropriate files and aliases. I'm pretty sure that
majordomo won't create the appropriate aliases for you, so you'll
need to do some editting by hand anyway. A recent posting provided a
link to a "list creation" script; maybe you should start there. I'm
also willing to send you mine, but my config is quite a bit more
complex (several virtual hosts with separate alias files,
virtusertable wackiness, etc).

At a minimum, you need to create the list file itself, and add the
appropriate aliases (list:, list-outgoing:, owner-list:, etc) to the
sendmail aliases files. You can either create the config file from a
template or issue a "writeconfig ...".
