I am the author of the newlist3.pl script. It is intended to be as much of a no-brainer as possible. It creates everything it could need for every situation, anything not needed or required is not enabled, but readily available. I am happy to explain and/or modify the script to be easier for every majordomo owner to use. The following files, which are located in the directory defined by $listdir in your majordomo.cf file, listname listname-post listname-digest are the membership lists containing addresses, one per line, of users that will either receive your list's messages, or be allowed to send/post messages to the "listname" address. Since these are all essentially their own mailing list, they each of a .config file associated with them. The minimum required files are listname and listname.config. listname-digest and it's associated listname-digest.config files are only used when you offer daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly, compilations of your listname conversations. The listname-post file is intended to be for lists with multiple owners or moderators, or to allow mail to come from users with multiple email addresses. In this scenario, my listname.config has a line; "restrict_post = listname listname-digest listname-post". I am subscribed to this list with my normal address, but I want to post email to the list from other addresses without having to receive duplicate and even triplicate email (one copy in each mailbox) back. Listname-post solves this.
