you may also wish to investigate demime

   http://scifi.squawk.com/demime.html

which is inserted into the path mail is traversing and which strips out
attachements, html email, etc. i've found it invaluble, and also insert it
before email sent to -request/majordomo addresses so that poor souls stuck
with mime only email systems (like some AOL clients that only send
text/html mime) can still access my lists.
