Hi all. I run several mailing lists which are hosted on a friend's UNIX
server. He has MD installed but I'm super frustrated because nothing
works. I can't manage to get lists to do posts from subscribers only,
which means I have to do full moderation of lists just to avoid spam, which
is stupid. And it means I can't go the next step and create lists of
subscribers who can post directly vs ones who are moderated. And I'm
having problems with the posting address forwarding. If the list is not
moderated it creates a loop.
He and I figured the first step was to determine if he had the latest and
greatest version of MD and also MajorCool (which I hardly use cause it's
so, well, useless). I also don't know if there were other components of MD
he was supposed to install separately that never got put in. I don't know
the current versions because his server appears to be down atm.
I can't do the legwork because I don't have the skills or the time.
He can't do much because he's doing this as a favor to me and to the lists
(health support groups) and he needs to spend his time doing paid work.
He asked me to find out "if there is web page or FAQ or some documentation
that I ought to read." He knows about Great Circle.
I was also wondering if there was someone here who might be willing to
volunteer a couple of hours post-installation to help us tweak the software
so it isn't running bare bones. We can't pay you (though I'd pay for any
long distance phone calls) but I will gladly send you some soap. No
really, that's not a booby prize...I have a home business making organic

friend's in LA.
